A good start to the day

Sunday sunny spring morning and without additional improvements is already beautiful. But this time the mood rose even higher when I read a letter from Amanda Rogers, a Sydney lawyer and one of the Aivazovsky artist’s descendants.

We wrote earlier about the Australian branch of the relatives of the great artist www.unification.com.au/articles/3828/

Now Amanda announced that she was going to visit the house-museum of her great ancestor in Feodosia and said that she talked about our newspaper with her Australian colleague, who called the newspaper “beautiful” and “magnificent”, and advised Amanda to learn Russian and read the newspaper in the original, in Russian. Here are her words:
«I was talking to a work colleague yesterday who reads Единение and he said the paper is ´beautiful magnificent’ and encouraged me to read it in Russian. He is Australian and never been to Russia but studied the language at university».

This, of course, is pleasant when unfamiliar Australians highly appreciate the newspaper, but the main purpose of this article was to remind you that you can start learning Russian in adulthood. In Sydney, you can study Russian at the Russian branch of Macquarie University (www.mq.edu.au Russian Studies), at courses at the University of Sydney (cce.sydney.edu.au/courses/language-culture/russian), where there are programs for beginners, intermediate or advanced level and learning spoken language. Also, some Russian weekend schools have classes in which adults can study the language (a list of Russian schools is on the newspaper's website www.unification.com.au/info/cat/10/).

Reading Tolstoy, Chekhov, and Dostoevsky in the original can be an excellent goal for students, and in the process of preparing you can subscribe and read a weekly new issue of the Edinenie Unification newspaper, which has been published in Australia for 70 years.
